Derek Gores (b. 1971) is a leading figure in the New Contemporary Movement, known for his lush, large-scale collages crafted from recycled magazines, maps, and data. A 1993 graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, Gores bridges the gap between the digital and physical worlds by transforming humble, disposable materials into sophisticated, photo-realistic portraits. His work functions as a visual puzzle: from a distance, a seamless image emerges, but up close, it dissolves into a "rabbit hole" of hidden lyrics and patterns. Rooted in Dadaist ideas of chance and "automatic" art, Gores exhibits internationally—from Paris to Los Angeles—and has been honoured with a solo museum retrospective at the Foosaner Art Museum, cementing his role as a master of the post-pop art vista
