Fusing traditional Victorian glass-chipping with high-jewelry materials, this artwork represents the pinnacle of contemporary craftsmanship. The "fern-like" textures of the glass are hand-gilded in 24-carat gold leaf, creating a radiant, multidimensional depth that honours a 125-year-old artistic tradition within a 21st-century context.
This composition captures the magnitude of a record-breaking career. Sir Lewis is depicted surveying his seven World Championships, represented by iridescent Abalone stars meticulously painted in the iconic liveries of McLaren and Mercedes. On the front surface, his signature diamond nose stud is rendered as a faceted glass crystal, adding a sharp, physical dimension to the portrait.
To preserve the intricate abalone work and the protruding crystal element, the piece is elegantly encased behind 2mm non-reflective Art Glass, ensuring absolute clarity and protection for a piece that is as much a jewel as it is a painting.
